API keys

A key authorizes requests to this site. Each key has its own limits, so you can give one to every project or agent.

Create a key

Create keys on the console's API Keys page. Give each project or agent its own key, so you can limit or revoke it on its own.

Key options

Option	What it does
Group	Which group's models and rates the key uses.
Spend limit	The most the key may spend. Requests stop once it is used up.
Expiration	The key stops working after this time.
Allowed models	Only these models can be called with the key.
Allowed IP addresses	Only requests from these addresses are accepted.

Keep keys safe

Treat a key like a password: keep it in an environment variable or a secret manager, never in source code or in a browser. If a key leaks, delete it in the console and create a new one.
